Chapter 35: The joy of the Jewish people over the fall of Edom

  • Rejoicing over the enemy: The Jewish people will rejoice over the fall of the enemy similar to the joy of a desert man who finds a beautiful herb.
  • Strengthening and encouraging the Jewish people in their belief in the redemption: The prophets are encouraged to strengthen the weak of the Jewish people, those who are weak in their faith and observance. The prophet should tell the Jewish people that they should not lose hope in the redemption, and that indeed the redemption will come. When the redemption arrives, the eyes of the blind will open, and the ears of the deaf will listen. Those who had questions and doubts in their faith, will now have their faith solidified.
  • The blessings of redemption: Those who were steadfast in their belief in G-d despite the witnessed success of the wicked, will now merit to sing praise to G-d for all the wealth of blessing that they will receive.
  • The deserts will fill with water and roads for the Jewish people: The deserts will not become fountains of water, and the water of redemption that they thirst for will continue to grow. The deserts will be filled with roads which only the Jewish people will pass through.
  • No animals: There were no longer be animals such as lions and pigs in the land of Israel.
  • Return of the exiles: And the Jewish people will be redeemed from their lands and move to Israel with great joy.
