Yeshayahu/Isaiah Chapter 24: Destruction of the land

Chapter 24: destruction of the land

  • No people: G-d will scatter the people from the land and cause it to become desolate and pillaged. The land will be humbled and in mourning.
  • Breaking covenant: This punishment has happened to the land because its people broke the covenant with G-d.
  • No wine: The land will be desolate the people, and the vineyards will be desolate of grapes and wine.
  • No music: The joy of music will cease from the land.
  • No homes: All homes will be barred from entrance.
  • The remaining population: The remaining Jews will be like the olives remaining on the tree after harvest. They, however, will merit to sing to G-d in praise and joy. They will merit redemption although there will be many trials and tribunals and suffering that the world will go through until then.
  • The final days: The earth will shake like a drunken man and punishment will be met to the celestial beings and the kings of the world. The sun and moon will be ashamed when G-d reigns over the world.
