Adding an additional candle after each birth:[1]
The widespread Ashkenazi custom is for a woman to light an additional Shabbos candle upon the birth of each child. Hence, for example, when she has her first child she now begins to light three candles. This is done in order to shine the Mazal of her child.[2]
