What is the obligation – to read the Megillah or to hear it being read? [1]
One can fulfill his obligation either through reading the Megillah, or through hearing the Megillah read by another person which is obligated to read it.[2] See Halacha 14-18 regarding the detailed laws of listening to a Megillah reading.
