Chapter 7: The End Has Come: God’s Wrath on the Land
1. Announcement of the End (Verses 1–4)
God declares that the end has come upon the land of Israel. His wrath will be poured out, and judgment will match their ways and abominations. There will be no pity—so they will know He is the Lord.
- A Singular Evil Approaches (Verses 5–9)
An unprecedented disaster is coming. The time has awakened against them; God’s fury will be spent, and His judgment will expose their sins.
- The Day of Doom (Verses 10–12)
The day has arrived. Violence has blossomed, and pride has budded. Buyers and sellers will not rejoice or mourn—normal life collapses under divine wrath.
- Futile Preparations (Verses 13–15)
Though the trumpet sounds for battle, no one fights because God’s wrath is upon all. Sword, famine, and pestilence will consume both city and field.
- Mourning and Shame (Verses 16–18)
Survivors will flee to the mountains, mourning like doves. Hands will weaken, knees will tremble, and shame will cover every face.
- Worthless Wealth (Verses 19–22)
Silver and gold will be thrown into the streets—they cannot save anyone. Their treasures, once a source of pride, will become repugnant and plundered by strangers.
- Total Collapse (Verses 23–27)
Chains will be made as violence fills the land. Foreign nations will seize homes; pride and sanctuaries will be profaned. Prophecy, priestly instruction, and counsel will vanish. Kings and princes will mourn, and all will know that God has acted.
