May one type on Chol Hamoed?[1]
Some Poskim[2] rule it is permitted to do so without restriction.[3] Others[4] however rule it may only be done for Holiday needs.[5] Others[6] rule it is completely forbidden with exception to those cases of which even skilled work [Maaseh Uman] is permitted.[7] According to all one should not perform a very long and strenuous job of typing.[8]

[1] The question here is whether typing on Chol Hamoeid is considered a Maaseh Uman, or a Maaseh Hedyot- and thus permitted?
[2] Beir Moshe 7:39; Rav Farkash in his sefer writes that its permitted to type for all reasons [Thus would even be permitted if not for need of moead?] , even in Hebrew, even in ksav ashuris, as the letters on a screen are not real letters but are forms of lights, which is not considered writing.
