A name is given with divine inspiration from G-d:[1]

It is written in the writings of the Arizal[2] that when a person is born and he is given a name by his father and mother, the name chosen was in truth placed into their minds and mouths by G-d, as G-d inspires the parents to choose a name which directly corresponds to the soul of the child. This applies to both a son and a daughter, that the idea of the name is placed into the head of the parents from on high. This name is imprinted on the divine throne.
