6. Hesped before a Holiday: [1]

If one passed away prior to thirty days before a festival [i.e. Pesach, Sukkos, Shavuos] it is forbidden for a relative to eulogize him within thirty days of the festival.[2] This applies even if the relative finds someone to eulogize for free.[3] [This applies only towards the Shalosh Regalim, and not to the thirty days before Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.[4]] It is however permitted to eulogize someone who passed away within thirty days before the festival, even on Erev Chag.[5] It is likewise permitted to eulogize a Shemua Kerova/Rechoka within thirty days before the festival.[6] However, even in the case that one is in any event giving a eulogy on behalf of a relative who passed away within thirty days before the festival, it is forbidden to also eulogize the relative who passed away prior to thirty days before the festival.[7]

Yahrzeit commemoration within thirty days before the festival, and on a festival:[8] It is permitted to commemorate the Yahrzeit of a relative and eulogize him within thirty days before a festival.[9] [This applies even by the first Yahrzeit, and is permitted to be done even within the holiday.[10]]
