If one said a blessing over a milk product within 6 hours of eating meat what is he to do?[1]

He may taste and swallow[2] the food in order to prevent the blessing from being said in vain. This however, may only be done if he already recited an after blessing after his meat meal [and he has cleaned his mouth or at least one hour has passed].[3]

[2] One is to swallow the food and not merely taste it and spit it out. [Zechor Leavraham ibid; Zivcheiy Tzedek ibid; Kaf Hachaim ibid; See Admur 167:9; Seder Birchas Hanehnin 9:1 that one must swallow the food when saying a blessing. This is unlike the ruling of Mur Uketzia 210; Shut Kol Gadol 72 who rule so long as one had intent to eat it, if he spits it out it is not a blessing in vain. You should immediately wash hands with a blessing, and then eat the bread without repeating the blessing beforehand.
