Daily Tanya Sunday 26th Sivan Shaar Hayichud Viemuna Chapter 8 Part 1: The Unity of Divine Essence and His Attributes

Chapter 8: The Unity of Divine Essence and His Attributes

1.      Unity of Divine Essence and Attributes

  • Even though various attributes and names are ascribed to the Divine—such as wisdom, mercy, and kindness—they are not separate from the Divine Essence.
  • All attributes, names, and characteristics attributed to the Divine form a perfect, absolute unity.

2.      Oneness of Divine Knowledge and Will

  • The knowledge, will, and attributes of the Divine are not distinct parts but are one and the same as the Divine Being.
  • This unity is so profound that it cannot be fully understood or articulated by human beings.

3.      Limits of Human Comprehension

  • Humans naturally imagine concepts like will, wisdom, or kindness as they understand them within themselves. However, the Divine exists on an infinitely higher level, utterly beyond what any created being can grasp or describe.

4.      Transcendence and Holiness

  • The Divine is “holy” and infinitely elevated above all forms of praise, understanding, or comparison to created beings, underscoring the endless separation between Creator and creation.
