  1. The Question About the Vine (Verses 1–5)

    • What is the vine-tree compared to other trees in the forest?
    • Can its wood be used for work or even as a peg to hang utensils?
  • Answer:
    • When whole, it is not useful for construction—how much less when burned and charred by fire.
  1. The Meaning of the Parable (Verses 6–8)
  • G‑d declares:
    • Just as the vine is given to the fire, so will He give the inhabitants of Jerusalem to destruction.
    • They have come out of one fire, but another fire will consume them.
  • Purpose:
    • “You will know that I am the Lord when I set My face against them.”
  • The land will become desolate because of their grievous sins.
