Chapter 15 – The Parable of the Vine
- The Question About the Vine (Verses 1–5)
- G‑d asks:
- What is the vine-tree compared to other trees in the forest?
- Can its wood be used for work or even as a peg to hang utensils?
- Answer:
- When whole, it is not useful for construction—how much less when burned and charred by fire.
- The Meaning of the Parable (Verses 6–8)
- G‑d declares:
- Just as the vine is given to the fire, so will He give the inhabitants of Jerusalem to destruction.
- They have come out of one fire, but another fire will consume them.
- Purpose:
- “You will know that I am the Lord when I set My face against them.”
- The land will become desolate because of their grievous sins.
