Daily Tanya Tuesday 9th Elul Igeres Hakodesh 12: Making Peace in the Heavenly and Earthly Realms

  • The great revelation and flow from the Infinite Light (Ein Sof) is drawn down through human initiative from below.
  • This is achieved through acts of charity, giving life, grace, kindness, and compassion to those who have nothing, and uplifting the spirit of the lowly.

🤝 Making Peace in the Heavenly and Earthly Realms

  • One who studies Torah for its own sake “makes peace in the heavenly entourage and in the earthly entourage.”
  • Heavenly entourage – the spiritual ministers and attributes, the supernal palaces in the World of Creation (as described in the Zohar).
  • Earthly entourage – the lower palaces, especially this physical world, which since Adam’s sin is a mixture of good and evil.

⚖️ The World’s State – Struggle Between Good and Evil

  • In this world, sometimes good prevails, and sometimes—Heaven forbid—the opposite.
  • True peace will only come at the “End of Days,” when good is separated from evil, cleaves to its divine source, and evil is removed from the earth.

🔮 The Future Clarification and Divine Revelation

  • This purification will happen through a great revelation of God’s presence, as it is written: “The earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Lord” and “The glory of the Lord shall be revealed.”

🙏 Personal Spiritual Refinement in the Present

  • In the individual, at special times—such as prayer or moments of secluded reflection—one can experience a taste of this refinement.
  • This comes through Torah study for its own sake and through charity, as in the teaching: Rabbi Elazar would give a coin to the poor and then pray, based on the verse “Through righteousness I shall behold Your face.”

💎 Refining the Good and Separating the Evil

  • Such acts bring about a revelation of divine understanding, leading to contemplation of God’s greatness and the birth of awe and love for Him.
  • This process refines the good for God and separates it from the evil, like purifying silver and gold in a crucible.
