Chapter 16: Advice to Moav to ask the Jewish people for help
- The prophet gives the following advice to Moav:
- Sending gifts in seek of refuge: Send gifts of lambs to Israel in order to appease them and have them agree to house the refugees of Moav, as the inhabitants of Moav will be like a wandering bird who does not have refuge.
- The monarchy of David is built on compassion and kindness and justice and therefore will be open to accept this request
- The Jewish people will respond with lamenting the destruction and devastation of the country of Moav.
- While originally the prophecy was given a long time ago, God now told the prophet that this prophecy will occur in three years’ time.
- The honor of Moav will be crushed and very few people will remain.
