Having a gentile turn on the heater or air conditioner on Shabbos

Having a gentile turn on the heater on Shabbos:[1]

If it is a great need, such as on a very cold day or if one has small children and it is even mildly cold, then it is permitted to ask a gentile to turn on the heat whether on Shabbos or Yom Tov.[2]

May one ask a gentile to turn on the fan or air conditioner on Shabbos?[3]
Some Poskim[4] rule that if it is a great need, such as a very hot day, then it is permitted to do so. Other Poskim[5] however rule it is forbidden to ask a gentile to turn on the fan or air conditioner on Shabbos, even if it is a very hot day.
