Daily Tanya Shabbos 11th Sivan Shaar Hayichud Viemuna Chapter 3 Part 2: Illustration of Divine creation Through the Sun’s Light

1.       Illustration Through the Sun’s Light

  • The light shining from the sun serves as an apt metaphor for the Divine life-force. Within the sun itself, this light is inseparable from its source and thus considered non-existent in its own right. However, as the light radiates outward and spreads across the universe, it takes on the appearance of independence.

2.       Parallel to Divine Creation

  • In a similar manner, all created beings depend entirely on the Divine breath for their existence, much like the sun’s light depends on its source. Yet, their existence remains nullified when measured against the infinite reality of the Divine.
  • This illusion of independence is not due to their true nature but rather stems from the human inability to perceive the Divine source fully.

3.       Understanding the Visibility of Creation

  • Unlike the sun’s rays, which exist apart from their source, created beings continuously remain within the Divine life-force that sustains them.
  • The source of their existence, though ever-present, remains invisible to our physical eyes, giving the illusion of independent materiality. As a result, the material world appears separate and self-sufficient, presenting a profound mystery that calls for spiritual insight to comprehend why creation does not seem nullified despite being wholly encompassed by its source.
