27th Sivan
1. The Primacy of Wisdom
- Wisdom is considered the highest quality among created beings, serving as the source and beginning of all life-force in creation.
2. Derivation of Intellectual and Emotive Attributes
- From wisdom come understanding and knowledge, which in turn give rise to the various emotional traits of the rational soul, like love, kindness, and mercy. These emotions stem from intellect.
- The above is evident that a child, lacking wisdom, often exhibits anger and unkindness. Moreover, a child’s affection is directed towards trivial matters that are unworthy of love, as they do not possess the understanding necessary to appreciate things that merit genuine affection. This demonstrates that love correlates with one’s level of understanding.
3. Role of Emotions in Thought and Speech
- Emotional attributes energize thoughts. Our thoughts are shaped by what we love or feel, and these thoughts become words. The words we think give rise to spoken words, which derive their essence from the original thoughts.
4. From Speech to Action
- Speech leads to action, such as performing deeds of kindness or charity. The power behind action is much less than the power behind speech or thought—similar to the way the body is less vital than the soul.
5. Hierarchy of Forces: Action, Speech, Thought, and Emotion
- Each level—action, speech, thought, and emotion—has a decreasing degree of vitality and power as one moves outward from the inner soul. Emotions are animated by intellect, and all these processes mirror the relationship between body and soul.
6. Application Across All Souls
- This hierarchical structure applies not only to humanity but to all souls in higher and lower worlds: wisdom stands at the beginning and serves as the source of all life-force.
