๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ The Third Day of Creation

According to the traditional reckoning that Creation began on 25 Elul, the day of 27 Elul corresponds to the Third Day of Maโ€™aseh Bereishis.

On this day Hashem completed the gathering of the waters and revealed the dry land:

โ€œื™ืงื•ื• ื”ืžื™ืโ€ฆ ื•ืชืจืื” ื”ื™ื‘ืฉื”โ€œ
โ€œLet the waters be gathered togetherโ€ฆ and let the dry land appear.โ€

It was also on this day that the earth produced:

  • Grass
  • Herbs
  • Trees
  • Fruit-bearing vegetation

Unlike the second day, the expression โ€œื›ื™ ื˜ื•ื‘โ€œ appears twice on the third day. Chazal explain that one โ€œื›ื™ ื˜ื•ื‘โ€ was for the completion of the work of the second day, and the second was for the work of the third day itself.

The Midrash further teaches that Gan Eden was created on the third day, making it a day especially associated with growth, blessing, and spiritual reward.
