There is no need to hold onto the candle during Havdala, and it may be placed in a candleholder.

Sources: See Admur 296:16 where no mention is ever made about holding the candle, and only the holding of the spices and the kiddush cup is mentioned

Yes. While encouraged and the custom, there is no requirement to say it with another person, and hence when another person is not available then one should say it to himself.
