Does a real estate agent who showed someone a property which they later bought through a second realtor without the original realtor deserve any of the commission?

Sometimes, yes. If the first realtor contributed to the sale in any way then he is considered a Matchil and deserves 1/3 of the fee. The ones who finish the deal receive 2/3rds. However, if he contributed nothing, such as if a second firm contacted the buyer on their own, then he deserves nothing.
