Epistle 7

23rd Av

Jacob as a Rectifier and Spiritual Channel

Jacob is described as possessing a spiritual beauty reminiscent of Adam before the original transgression. His soul contained all future souls of Israel and served as a vehicle for the Divine Torah, connecting the spiritual and physical realms.

Divine Revelation through the Soul

Jacob drew Divine light from its hidden state into revelation, bringing the infinite light of God to shine openly in his soul. This process is alluded to in the verse, “And he called Him God, the God of Israel,” signifying the drawing down of Divine illumination.

Revelation for All Upright Souls

Following Jacob, all upright individuals engaged in Torah and mitzvot can experience this Divine illumination in their souls, especially during prayer, when the light is revealed with greater intensity in the mind and heart.
