16th Tamuz

  1. The Soul Mirrors the Divine Structure
  • Just as the Divine flow is structured through the letters of Hashem’s Name,
the human soul (nefesh Elokit) follows the same pattern.
  • The soul is “breathed from within,” meaning it is a direct godly expression.

  1. The “Yud”: Hidden Intellect
  • Every person has a point of hidden intellect (chochmah):
    • The ability to grasp Godliness in potential
  • This corresponds to the letter ×™ (Yud)
  • It starts as a tiny spark of idea, before full understanding.

  1. The “Heh”: Understanding and Deep Thinking
  • When a person develops that idea:
    • Through thinking, analyzing, and reflecting on Hashem’s greatness
  • This is binah (understanding) → the letter ×” (Heh)
  • It expands the idea into something clear and detailed.

  1. From Thought to Emotion
  • Deep contemplation leads to emotions:
    • Love of Hashem
    • Fear/awe of Hashem
  • These emotions begin:
    • First hidden in the mind and heart
    • Then become revealed feelings

  1. The “Vav-Heh”: Action and Expression
  • These emotions lead to actual service of Hashem:
    • Learning Torah
    • Speaking words of Torah
    • Performing mitzvot
  • This corresponds to:
    • ו (Vav) → drawing down into action
    • ×” (final Heh) → expression through speech and deed

  1. Torah as the Source of Understanding
  • The ability to think about Hashem and develop understanding comes from:
    • Torah itself, which originates in Divine wisdom (Yud)
  • So:
    • Torah → creates understanding → creates emotions → leads to action
