• Their tongues are described as deadly arrows, speaking deceit while harboring malicious intent.
• Hashem announces a plan to refine and test the people due to their wickedness.

3. Lament for the Land

• The prophet grieves for the ruined mountains and desolate wilderness.
• Both animals and humans have fled, leaving the land barren and uninhabitable.
• Jerusalem is foretold to become a ruin, with Judah left in desolation.

4. Reasons for Divine Judgment

• The people have forsaken Hashem’s Law, following the corrupt desires of their hearts and idol worship.
• Hashem declares He will feed them with wormwood and give them poisonous water to drink.
• They will be scattered among unfamiliar nations, pursued by the sword until destruction.

5. A Call to Mourning

• Hashem commands the hiring of professional mourners to lament the nation’s downfall.
• The sound of wailing from Zion reflects the shame and ruin of the people.
• Women are instructed to teach laments to their daughters and neighbors.

6. The Consequences of Sin

• Death is described as entering through windows and cutting off lives from the streets and squares.
• The prophet proclaims that human carcasses will scatter the fields like discarded sheaves.

7. Hashem’s Delight in Justice

• Warnings against boasting in wisdom, strength, or riches.
